An enjoyable readI m sure I read this years ago, but it was just as much a pleasure as it was the first time It is one of Edith Layton s best plots with intriguing characters. An interesting book about Fleet weddings, yet the characters, so typical of the period, were less than likable until the very end, which made it hard to keep picking up the book and continuing to read The writing is good, however, and I m glad I persevered to the end I
Another enjoyable Layton.First read 23 July 2009.This has recently been selected from an International VBB on bookcrossing, and just as I was about to parcel it, I thought I d reread it again quickly I m glad I did as I really didn t remember it very well
I learned the difference between Newgate and the Fleet, what a time to be poor and young Unfortunately, in this tale, there were only a couple of likeable characters and they were not the hero or the heroine.
